Navy Times was founded in 1951 by Army Times Publishing Company, which in turn was founded along with Army Times in 1940. Navy Times focuses on news of interest to U.S. Navy personnel, their families, and retirees. Until recently, it was common for some major articles to be published simultaneously in Army Times and Navy Times.
Since 2015, Navy Times has been published by Sightline Media Group.
